Story Part 2
Her Dorm Room Secret Wasn’t What He Expected at All
The hallway light buzzed. Sarah froze.
James stepped back, brushing his hand through his hair like nothing happened. She peeked out. A group of seniors walked past, laughing loudly, carrying pizza boxes and bottles wrapped in brown bags.
“Welcome to college,” one of them joked, flashing a wink at James.
Sarah shut the door softly. The moment between them wasn’t gone… just delayed. But something had changed. Her pulse hadn’t slowed since.

Inside her dorm room, James glanced around.
“This your first time living away from home?” he asked, his voice softer now.
Sarah nodded. “Everything here feels… too big. Too fast.”
James smiled knowingly. “Yeah. I came here from Toronto. No parents, no curfews, just… chaos and freedom.”
They talked more—about strange dining hall food, college hookup rules in the USA vs Canada, and one surprising night he’d shared a bed with his ex-roommate’s sister without even realizing it until morning. Sarah laughed so hard she spilled her drink.
Then he asked the question she didn’t see coming.
“Have you ever had a secret dorm room romance?”
She hesitated. “Not yet.”
That “yet” made James raise an eyebrow.

The air shifted again.
Sarah leaned forward. “I’ve read about all those crazy college party hookups. I used to think they were made up. But now… I’m not so sure.”
James was quiet for a second. “They’re not. Trust me.”
He told her about a time in Melbourne, Australia, when he ended up crashing in a girl’s dorm after a foam party gone wild. “We didn’t even know each other’s last names,” he whispered. “But she left me a note I still have.”
Sarah felt her heart skip.
“Maybe it’s not about names,” she said, almost to herself.
James looked at her then, really looked. “No. It’s about the moment.”
They sat in silence. Their hands were close, not quite touching.
She didn’t move away when his pinky brushed hers.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the hallway.
“Mandatory floor meeting in 5 minutes! Everyone down now!”
They jumped. James laughed nervously. “Guess we’re still freshmen after all.”
Sarah grabbed her jacket, heart pounding. She wasn’t sure what just happened—but she knew what was starting.
